Alice (Brittany Murphy) is een schrijfster die naar een verlaten huis vertrekt om daar in alle rust een scenario te schrijven. Ze kan echter geen woord op papier krijgen en na een reeks onverwachte gebeurtenissen glijdt ze steeds verder af in waanzin. De onvoorziene gebeurtenissen zorgen ervoor dat ze mentaal instort.
