Ron Clark is een gewone leraar die zijn vertrouwde dorpje in North Carolina verlaat om les te gaan geven in één van de openbare scholen te New York. Hij krijgt meteen één van de moeilijkste klassen toegewezen, maar gebruikt zijn enthousiasme en creativiteit om zijn missie tot een goed einde te brengen.
