Het is 1999. Tomás gooit vanuit zijn flat een waterballonnetje naar een kinderwagen beneden op de grond. Dat is voor zijn moeder de druppel en ze stuurt hem naar zijn broer in de grote stad. Zijn broer, Fede, woont samen met zijn vriend Santos in een betonnen flat. Ze zijn momenteel aan het staken tegen hun mede-studenten. Als Tomás langskomt met een cassette waar muziek op staat van Epigmenio Cruz gaan ze op reis op zoek naar hun idool.
