De Stonewall-rellen vonden eind juni 1969 plaats bij de ontruiming van de homobar 'The Stonewall Inn' door de politie. Na jaren van treiterijen en geweldplegingen door de politie besloot het bezoekende publiek terug te vechten. Het is kerstavond 1971 in Manhattan's Greenwich Village en de stamgasten van de plaatselijke homobar vieren feest. Er is niet veel veranderd sinds de rellen, maar toch lijkt er verandering op komst.
