William Canfield Jr. is de zoon van 'Steamboat Bill', de kapitein van een rivierboot. Als de twee elkaar na jaren van elkaar gescheiden te zijn weer terugzien, wordt Canfield Sr. al snel gearresteerd. Zijn zoon is vastbesloten hem vrij te krijgen.
