Plot

Toen de Tweede Wereldoorlog uitbrak diende John Ford in zijn veertiger jaren in de ZeeReserve. Bill Donavan, de directeur van wat binnenkort de OSS (Office of Strategic Services) zou worden, maakte hem hoofd van de Field Photographic Unit. Tijdens de oorlog maakte Field Photo minstens 87 documentaires, velen met Ford' s handtekening. Hierbij had hij veel aandacht voor heldenmoed, verlies en het oogpunt van de vechtende soldaten en mariniers.
