Chris Boyce Hutton heeft een laag baantje in een defensie complex waar hij documenten onthult die bewijzen dat de C.I.A. in het geheim buitenlandse regeringen onderdrukt. Hij neemt zijn samenzwerende en van mooie praatjes voorziene vriend Daulton Lee Penn in vertrouwen, een roekeloze drugsdealer en gebruiker, die hem overhaalt om deze informatie voor grof geld aan de Sovjets te verkopen. Stoutmoedig maakt Lee een deal met de KGB, maar al spoedig loopt het uit de hand als de Sovjets om meer gehimen vragen terwijl Lee verder wegzakt in zijn drugsverslaving. Uitbarstend in een internationaal schandaal, is 'The Falcon and the Snowman' een thriller die in je hoofd blijft hangen met de hardnekkigheid van een nachtmerrie op klaarlichte dag.
