Brighton 1959. Privé-detective Tony Aaron is gespecialiseerd in 'opgezette' overspelzaken. Hij is niet te beroerd om zijn eigen vrouw te fotograferen in het gezelschap van zijn klanten. Op een dag treft hij zijn vrouw en zijn laatste klant, de beroemde schilder Stasio, dood aan. Tony wordt door de politie ondervraagd, ontmoet de weduwe van Stasio, die niet rouwig is om zijn dood, en Stasio's maîtresse Angelina.
