'Annihilation' volgt een groep van vier vrouwen: een bioloog, een antropoloog, een psycholoog en een surveillant. De groep besluit op een gevaarlijke expeditie te gaan naar een locatie waar de natuurwetten niet gelden. Het onbewoonde en verlaten gebied is de laatste plek waar de man van een van de groepsleden is geweest.
