Plot

In het afgelegen landhuis The Franchise wonen twee vrouwen over wie flink geroddeld wordt. Een tienermeisje uit het dorp verdwijnt en duikt plotseling weer op. Ze beschuldigt de vrouwen ervan haar vastgehouden, mishandeld en uitgehongerd te hebben. De lokale bevolking gelooft haar. Er wordt een proces voorbereid, maar advocaat Robert Blair twijfelt aan het verhaal van het meisje.
