Billy Flyn, een voormalig bokskampioen, is nu een paardentrainer. Hij verdient net genoeg geld om zijn zoontje TJ, waar hij de voogdij over kreeg na de scheiding met z'n vrouw Annie, te onderhouden. Om TJ een beter te leven te kunnen geven probeert Billy een comeback te maken.
