Don Dubro is de eigenaar van een rommelwinkel. Samen met zijn vrienden probeert hij dagelijks de hopeloosheid van hun bestaan te ontstijgen, maar zonder resultaat. Het is meer uit gewoonte dan uit echte ambitie. Zijn vrienden Teach en Bobby hebben dat punt nog niet bereikt en geloven nog echt dat die gouden kans ooit gaat komen. Maar al naar gelang hun plannetje om een van Don's klanten op te lichten met een waardevolle munt verder wordt uitgewerkt, doemt ook de harde werkelijkheid in al haar wreedheid voor hen op.
Nee, helaas is American Buffalo nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
