Paul Conway is een 15 jarige jongen die verhuist is naar een andere stad. Hij heeft een robot met de naam BeeBee. Paul raakt bevriend met zijn buurmeisje Samantha maar op een avond mishandeld haar vader haar zo erg dat ze klinisch dood is. Paul wil haar redden door Beebee's microchips in haar hersenen te implanteren maar dat heeft gevolgen.
