De eigenzinnige 9-jarige snotneus Amanda (Mary-Kate Olsen) doet niets liever dan Diane (Kirstie Alley) helpen bij het vinden van haar grote liefde. Roger Callaway (Steve Guttenberg) is een rijke weduwenaar met een eveneens 9-jarige dochter Alyssa (Ashley Olsen), die op het punt staat te trouwen met de akelige Clarice. Als de twee identieke meisjes elkaar ontmoeten gaan ze er alles voor zorgen dat Clarice niet met Roger trouwt en proberen Diane en Roger dichter bij elkaar te bregen.
