Gebaseerd op ware gebeurtenissen. Italië, 1982. Sergio Segio en Susanna Ronconi zijn naast geliefden ook de leiders van de links-extremistische groepering La Prima Linea. Vergelijkbaar met de Rode Brigades schuwde deze groepering geen enkele vorm van geweld om de staat omver te werpen. Sergio raakt na verloop van tijd steeds verder verwijderd van de extreme inslag van de groep, maar wanneer Susanna gevangen wordt genomen, doet hij nog één keer een beroep op de militaire methoden om haar uit de gevangenis te blazen...
