Tess is een secretaresse die graag hogerop wil. Ze komt te werken voor de succesvolle zakenvrouw Katherine die Tess' goede zakelijke ideeën en inzicht zeer waardeert en haar belooft dat als ze zo doorgaat ze Tess wel wil helpen om carriere te maken. Maar tijdens een skivakantie breekt Katherine haar been, en zo komt Tess erachter Katherine haar ideeën inpikt om zelf met de eer te gaan strijken. Tess besluit dan om zich voor te doen als Katherine, die toch wel even uitgeschakeld is, en de keiharde zakenwereld binnen te dringen met de hulp van zakenman Jack.
