Een rijke man sterft en laat al zijn geld na aan zijn zoon. Omdat deze nog minderjarig is zal zijn tante Mame voor hem zorgen. Vader heeft strikte regels opgesteld waar tante anders over denkt. Daarom neemt de executeur het kind van haar af. Bovendien stort de beurs in waardoor ze ook al haar geld kwijt is.
