Het is 1973 als Txema, een Baskische aannemer, tegen zijn wil door de ETA wordt betrokken bij een moordaanslag. Als hij wordt opgepakt is de SECED, de Spaanse geheime dienst, in hem geïnteresseerd vanwege zijn connecties bij de ETA. Ze zetten hem in als infiltrant en hij weet door te dringen tot de top van de ETA. Zo maken wij kennis met de werkwijze van zowel de SECED als de ETA, waar interne conflicten op een bloedige manier worden opgelost. Gaandeweg wordt het de hoofdpersoon duidelijk dat persoonlijke belangen vaak zwaarder wegen dan politieke idealen en dat niet iedereen gebaat is bij de ontmanteling van de ETA.
