De film vertelt het verhaal van de beroemde club Studio 54, een plek waar in de jaren '70 de elite van New York hun avonden doorbracht. De disco had als eigenaar de aan cocaïne verslaafde Steve Rubell. De film volgt verschillende personages, waaronder Shane, een jongen van bescheiden komaf die een nieuw leven begint als barkeeper in Studio 54.
Nee, helaas is 54 nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
