Op 17 december is alles normaal. De SOS Brigade, onder leiding van Haruhi Suzumiya, is van plan om een Nabe feestje te houden voor Kerstmis. Maar op 18 december arriveert Kyon op school om te ontdekken dat alles anders is dan normaal. Haruhi ontbreekt, en Ryoko Asakura, die al eerder verwijderd was door Yuki Nagato, wordt een normale student. Yuki is een gewoon mens, en Mikuru Asahina herkent hem niet. Alleen Kyon is zich ervan bewust dat alles anders is. De enige aanwijzing is een bladwijzer achtergelaten door de vervreemde versie van Yuki, die Kyon leidt op een zoektocht terug in de tijd, waar hij interageert met het verhaallijn van "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody", probeert het mysterie te ontrafelen en terug te keren naar zijn eigen tijd.
Nee, helaas is The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
