Acciaroli, een kustplaatsje in de Italiaanse gemeente Pollica in de provincie Salerno. Angelo Vassallo is een milieubewuste visser die genoeg heeft van de verloedering van de zee en zijn land. Hij stelt zich kandidaat als burgemeester van de corrupte gemeente en wordt verkozen. De man begint een kruistocht tegen drugs en misdaad en pleit bij zijn medeburgers voor respect voor het milieu.
