Dre is een skateboardende, gameverslaafde jongen die gedwongen is naar China te verhuizen, omdat zijn moeder daar voor haar werk heen moet. Dre past zich maar moeilijk aan en wordt in elkaar geslagen door de plaatselijke pestkop. Mr. Han is een klusjesman die Dre’s blauwe oog ziet en hem aanbiedt om hem martial arts en de Chinese taal te leren.
Nee, helaas is The Karate Kid nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
