De oudere vrijgezel Matthew Cuthbert woont samen met zijn ongehuwde zus Marilla. Samen hebben ze beslist een kind te adopteren, bij voorkeur een stoere jongen die Matthew een handje kan helpen op de boerderij. Het weeshuis maakt echter een fout en stuurt de jonge Anne naar de Cuthberts.
Nee, helaas is Anne of Green Gables nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
