Een 32-jarige zoon en zijn 54 jaar oude vader hebben elk voor zich veel problemen op te lossen in Tokio. De vader haalt zijn zoon echter over de zomer door te brengen in een huisje in de bergen. Het is er koel en beiden trekken een trainingspak aan dat al snel een symbool wordt van hun verbondenheid. De dagen kabbelen voort en de film volgt hun omgang met elkaar en de lokale bevolking.
