Tijdens de Amerikaanse burgeroorlog wordt een gewonde Yank opgesloten in een meisjesschool in het zuiden van de VS. De vrouwen vallen al snel voor zijn charmes. Er ontstaat echter een klimaat van haat en bedrog tussen de vrouwen onderling, en uiteindelijk ook tegen hem.
