Jean Miller (Bea Arthur), een lerares verkeersles, is haar man bijna een jaar geleden verloren maar ze laat hem nog steeds niet los. Na haar veertigste highschoolreünie besluit ze een oude vlam te schrijven die haar uitnodigt voor een weekend. Hij was haar eerste liefde en de gevoelens van toen zijn nog niet gedoofd, alleen heeft hij nu een veel jongere vriendin.
