Een badjuffrouw doet de ontdekking dat er iets vreemds te gebeuren staat in de buurt van de kust van San Diego. Om dit te voorkomen schakelt ze de hulp in van een aantal andere mensen. Wat ze dan echter nog niet weten is dat ze de gehele westkust moeten redden, voordat deze compleet vernietigt wordt.
