Een computerverkoper en een excentrieke Newyorkse willen beiden van New York naar Californë reizen. Zij wil naar haar vriend toe. Hij wil niet alleen reizen want de trip duurt zo'n 4 dagen. Ze besluiten samen te reizen in zijn auto en beurtelings te rijden. Onderweg vertellen ze elkaar hun problemen.
