Baltimore, 19e eeuw. Isabel Porter, een meisje dat getroffen is door verdriet na de vroegtijdige dood van haar ouders, besluit zich vrijwillig te melden bij het Rosewood instituut. Daar wordt ze onderworpen aan bizarre en steeds gewelddadigere pseudo-wetenschappelijke experimenten in persoonlijke modificatie, hersenspoeling en mind-control. Ze zal een manier moeten vinden om aan Rosewood te ontsnappen en wraak te nemen of voor altijd verloren zijn.
