Het verhaal volgt de relatie tussen A.A. Milne en z'n zoon Robin, de inspiratiebron voor het personage Christopher Robin uit de Winnie the Pooh-verhalen. Samen met zijn moeder Daphne en zijn oppas Olive wordt de familie meegesleurd in het internationale succes van de boeken. De betoverende verhalen brengen hoop en troost naar Engeland na het einde van de Eerste Wereldoorlog.
