Homo-haarstylist Robin Turner doet veel werk voor dragqueens, terwijl hij droomt dat hij ooit de moed zal vinden om zelf op te treden in drag. Wanneer zijn schizofrene vriendin Liza op zoek gaat naar een plek om te verblijven, vormen de twee een steeds hechtere band. Robin helpt Liza door een ongeplande zwangerschap en Liza dwingt Robin om een succesvolle nachtclubact te ontwikkelen.
