Laura en Carmilla zijn twee vrouwen die samenwonen in een gezellig appartement in Toronto. Laura houdt zich bezig met journalistiek en Carmilla, die vroeger een vampier was, doet haar best een menselijk bestaan te leiden. De problemen beginnen echter wanneer Carmilla weer dorst krijgt naar bloed en wil bijten. Ondertussen krijgt Laura last van vreemde dromen. De twee schakelen de hulp in van oude vrienden om te ontdekken wat er precies gaande is.
