Sidney Prescott wordt het doelwit van een moordenaar die al één van haar klasgenotes heeft vermoord. Een journalist en presentatrice van een tv-programma is vastberaden om de waarheid te achterhalen, en denkt dat de man die de moeder van Sidney heeft vermoord dezelfde is als degene die haar nu achterna zit. De vriend van Sidney wordt echter de voornaamste verdachte.
