Detective Jon Chance gaat op zoek naar een miljonairsdochter en haar vriendje. Deze zijn beide door gangsters gekidnapt. Helaas verloopt het onderzoek niet erg vlot en komt Chance voortdurend in gevaarlijke situaties terecht.
