Wanneer de gescheiden Anthony en Jocelyn horen dat hun zoon Tom Hurndall in zijn hoofd geschoten is, gaan de twee onmiddellijk naar Israël om bij hun zoon te zijn. Terwijl hij in coma in het ziekenhuis ligt, proberen de ouders uit te zoeken hoe dit heeft kunnen gebeuren. Hierbij stuiten ze op een hoop weerstand.
