Charlie en Claire zijn verloofd. Claire plant een weekend in New York voor hen beiden om de komende bruiloft voor te bereiden. Anna en David zitten in hetzelfde schuitje en ook zij hebben een weekendje in New York gepland. Door omstandigheden kunnen zowel Claire als David niet mee. Charlie en Anna leren elkaar kennen en brengen het weekend samen door met het plannen van de twee bruiloften.
