Wanneer de Noorman schipbreukeling Rolfe op een markt spreekt over de legendarische puur gouden klok, genaamd de 'Moeder Aller Stemmen', neemt de Moorse koning Aly Mansuh hem gevangen. Rolfe vertelt hem dat de klok slechts een mythe is en weet alvorens ze hem martelen te ontsnappen. Wanneer Rolfe weer bij zijn eigen volk arriveert, laat hij zijn vader weten de locatie van de klok te kennen.
