De IRA-terrorist Frankie McGuire ontsnapt naar New York waar hij onder de naam Rory Devaney in het huis van de Ierse agent Tom O'Meara woont. Tom weet niets van de echte identiteit van Frankie. Er ontstaan problemen wanneer Tom langzaam achter de ware identiteit van "Rory" komt.
