Plot

Mensenrechten-fotograaf Phil Borges heeft tijdens zijn reizen gezien hoe inheemse culturen wereldwijd de symptomen van een psychose beschouwen als een sjamanistisch potentieel. Eenmaal terug in de VS volgt Phil twee jonge Amerikanen die gediagnosticeerd zijn met een mentale stoornis. Adam (27) leidt aan verwoestende bijwerkingen van medicijnen, voordat hij zich overgeeft aan meditatie. Ekhaya (32) overleeft meerdere zelfmoordpogingen voordat ze begint aan haar spirituele training, waarna ze zelfs tot traditioneel Zuid-Afrikaanse genezer wordt benoemd.
