In een armoedige wijk in Louisville poogt Angie haar dagen door te komen met een baan in een buurtwinkel (die ze dreigt kwijt te geraken), terwijl ze de zorg draagt over haar driejarig zoontje en haar alcoholistische moeder. Wanneer ze uit hun woning worden gezet moet Angie haastig op zoek naar een nieuwe thuis en het geld om zich deze te kunnen permitteren. Ondertussen heeft ze nog af te rekenen met een man uit haar verleden.
