Amos en Cyril zijn twee Britse veteranen uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Na 50 jaar keren zij terug naar Normandië om het graf van een oude kameraad te bezoeken. Daar komen zij Waldo tegen, een Amerikaanse veteraan. Ook ontmoeten ze een Franse dame op wie zowel Waldo als Cyril in de oorlogsjaren verliefd was.
