De wanhopige Will poogt terug naar huis te keren naar zijn zwangere vrouw Samantha. Hij moet hiervoor duizenden mijlen afreizen samen met zijn schoonvader Tom, waarmee hij een niet al te beste band onderhoudt. Te midden van dit alles is er een mysterieuze apocalyptische gebeurtenis gaande die de wereld in chaos doet verzaken.
