Het enige waar de 14-jarige Jackie Mullins aan kan denken is zingen. Haar neefje Angus is dan ook vastbesloten om haar beroemd te maken. De pub van hun grootmoeder wordt bedreigd met sluiting vanwege financiële problemen en een glanzende carrière moet de nodige problemen oplossen. Ze besluiten een samenwerking met de lokale band The Wombats aan te gaan.
