Op het gigantische, luxe cruiseschip Poseidon dat over de Noord Atlantische Oceaan vaart, is een schitterend feest begonnen om het nieuwe jaar in te luiden. Maar terwijl in de balzaal de champagneglazen worden geheven, is er op de officiersbrug groot alarm. Een reusachtige vloedgolf van wel dertig meter hoog stormt razendsnel op het schip af en kan niet meer ontweken worden. Met een kolossale kracht laat de golf het grote schip kapseizen, voordat het helemaal ondersteboven komt te liggen.
Nee, helaas is Poseidon nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
