In New Bedford, Massachusetts worden twee halfbroers, die in de commerciële visserij werken, als volwassenen herenigd nadat ze door verschillende vaders zijn opgevoed. Wanneer de ene broer ontdekt dat zijn vervreemde vader nog maar enkele maanden te leven heeft, sluit hij een gevaarlijke overeenkomst met een georganiseerd misdaadsyndicaat. Hierdoor komen hij en zijn halfbroer op ramkoers te liggen met de onderwereld van Boston.
