Moon (Jimmy Bennett) en zijn vader 'Pap' (J.D. Evermore) leven de liberale droom, illegaal wonend in het achterland van het roerige Alabama. Zijn vader voedt Moon op met de wetenschap om nooit iemand te vertrouwen, zeker de regering niet. Dat is allemaal goed en wel totdat Pap overlijdt en de 11-jarige Moon helemaal alleen achterlaat in de wildernis. Moon besluit dan om te voet richting Alaska te vertrekken, het mekka van de liberalen.
Nee, helaas is Alabama Moon nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
