Het jaar 1989. De jonge vertaalster Lucy Fly woont al vijf jaar in Tokio. Ze ontmoet de knappe fotograaf Teiji, die ze niet meer uit haar hoofd kan krijgen. Alles wordt ingewikkelder wanneer de verpleegster Lily in de hoofdstad arriveert en er een driehoeksverhouding ontstaat. Wanneer Lily vermist wordt, is Lucy de hoofdverdachte.
