Twee dertigers brengen samen enkele nachten door in afwachting van een abortusprocedure. Zij is een lerares die wegzakt in een depressie en alcoholisme, ze brengt haar avonden door voor de televisie. Hij verdient zijn brood met marihuana en rookt het zelf ook op met zijn vrienden om zich beter te voelen. Heel hun leven zijn ze op de vlucht voor verantwoordelijkheid. Nu worden de man en de vrouw gedwongen een beslissing te nemen die hun leven kan veranderen. In de loop van een paar dagen en nachten beginnen ze een kans op verandering te zien.
