Het eenzame jongetje Angus vindt op de oevers van het meer van Loch Ness een mysterieus ei, waarin een vreemd schepsel uit de Schotse mythologie blijkt te zitten. Dit ongewone waterdier wordt al snel veel te groot voor de schuur waarin de jongen zijn vondst aanvankelijk verborgen houdt.
