Miranda en Lila zijn twee zussen. Miranda en Dan zijn zijn het drukke stadsleven ontvlucht en proberen een klein bedrijf op te zetten, waarbij ze hun kinderen op sleeptouw nemen. Lila is een langzaam in de vergetelheid geraakte Hollywoodster, die getrouwd is met de aan alcohol verslaafde Trent. De twee willen samen met hun families samenkomen om kerst te vieren in het vervallen ouderlijke huis van hun recent overleden ouders. Hier komen oude rivaliteiten weer boven drijven, wat de goede wil voor een goed seizoen niet ten goede komt.
